Wedding Of The Year 2010
Every designer loves a wedding that pushes the envelope and challenges their creative, artistic nature. The elements of design, using materials that may have not been used before or idea's you may not have seen.
I had so many this year that it was hard to nail down just one favorite.
In all honesty the brides I featured this year were bold and they also trusted my ability to see their vision and gave me some artistic control.
When you are able to surrender a bit of control in the design and the use of flowers to the designer, you will never be disappointed. When I get goosebumps at a consultation and your idea's get me excited, that is when floral artists do their best work, when they can be apart of the creative process.
Christy Miller was this years pick for Wedding of the Year.
Christy gave me her colors, her budget and then said " surprise me!"
She had no idea what her flowers were going to look like until the day she walked down the aisle.
Everything was black, white and formal for her church wedding which was held on the Keuka College Campus.
Her flowers were all white and the pew decorations of white dendrobium orchids and white "color fresh" accent foliage almost looked like feathers.
These elements along with black accent foliage, black pearls were added to the bridesmaids bouquets that sparkled with a touch of silver glitter that wasn't noticeable in the daylight but as it drifted off into evening they captured the light and added something special.
Christy had high and low table arrangements accented with candles.
Large cylinder vase arrangements were filled with water pearls and lights inside which made them glow. Atop the large cylinders sat an array of white flowers, lily's, lisianthus, roses and white orchids. Small bubble vases were filled with water pearls and LED lights which were distributed throughout the site on the bar, gift table and cake table.
The black linen's simply popped the crystal, candles, water pearls and white flowers. Creating an old Hollywood, art nouveau feeling.
Christy and Dan's wedding was held at Glenora Wine Cellars on Seneca Lake.
Her photographer was Robert Kaussner Photography, 123 East King Road, Ithaca NY 14850. Phone 607-273-1730 and be sure to check out his wonderful work at www.rkaussnerphoto.com
